Welcome to Mequon Montessori School!
The goal of education is to instill in the child a love of learning, self-confidence and respect for others. The child is allowed freedom of expression and movement to the extent that his inner discipline permits. Children learn to respect others because they are respected, cooperation rather than competition is stressed and the concrete materials help them understand concepts rather than memorizing facts.
This is accomplished by allowing the child to experience the excitement of learning through his own efforts rather than by being told. The materials stimulate the curiosity of the children and invite them to learn through discovery. They are guided by their own interests and periods of readiness. The child is encouraged to feel that he is forever experimenting.
