Montessori Children’s House

Ages: 2 ½ – 6 y/o
Days: Mon – Fri
Time: 8:30 – 11:30 AM
Calendar: Sept. – May

This program begins when a child is 2 1⁄2 or 3 years old years old and is toileting independently. This covers the preschool and kindergarten years ages 2 1⁄2 thru 6 years. The areas of learning include practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics and social science (geography, history, cultural studies and life science). Music, art and physical education are also a regular part of the curriculum.

Children remain with the same teachers for three years which provides for stability and consistency for the child. The program runs September thru May and follows a typical school calendar. Regular attendance five days per week is important to get the full educational benefits. Children are admitted on a year-round basis as openings occur.

Children’s House students who would like to stay for lunch or are staying for Nature’s classroom have lunch between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM.

Nature’s Classroom

Age: 2 ½ – 6
Days: Mon – Fri
Time: 12:30 – 3 PM
Calendar: Sept. – May

This class has a certified Montessori teacher and teaching assistant in one of our regular Montessori classrooms. The core of the class is the same as above, a typical mixed age (2 1⁄2 – 6 years) Montessori curriculum with the added bonus of an environmental and recycling curriculum that runs throughout the year.

We have a large fenced in outdoor classroom complete with numerous planting beds, benches and lots of space to explore. Additionally the class has a focus on cooking 1 day/week, physical education, music and Spanish are an integrated as a regular part of the curriculum.

Toddler Program

Ages: 24 – 36 Months
Days: Mon – Fri
Time: 8:30 – 11:30 AM
Calendar: Sept. – May

This covers children ages 24 months to 36 months who attend part time. Children have the option of attending 2, 3, 4, or 5 mornings per week.

The certified Montessori teacher and teaching assistant provide lessons that introduce the children to various Montessori materials and guide them toward working independently. Snack, art, music and large motor movement along with Spanish and Sign Language are included. Through consistency, repetition and patience teachers also encourage children to toilet independently. The program runs September thru May and follows a typical school calendar.

Junior Toddler Program

Ages: 18 – 24 months
Days: Tuesday, Thursdays
Time: 8:30 – 11:30 AM

This covers children starting at 18 months of age. The program runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 – 11:30am. The program is very similar to the Toddler program but geared toward the slightly younger child.

Extended Day/ Kindergarten

Age: 5 – 6
Days: Mon – Fri
Time: 8:30 AM – 3 PM
Calendar: Sept. – May

This afternoon program for 5 and 6 year olds is an extension of a Kindergartener’s Montessori Day.

These children are in the mixed age classrooms in the morning and come together with the other 5 and 6 years olds in the afternoon for extended work with the Montessori materials. This gives them the opportunity to continue to work on the higher end materials uninterrupted, they can also work on projects that they did not finish in the morning and work on special projects designed specifically for this group. The class also prepares them for being with their peers all day and learning how to work out their relationships with their peers. The class also has Spanish integrated into the program.

Before and after school child care is offered for children enrolled in the Montessori Children’s House program or Toddlers over 2 years old.

The school is open from 7:30am – 4:30pm. Children ages 2 1⁄2 – 4 years old take a nap or have quiet time following lunch and then return to the classroom. This program runs parallel with the academic school year (September thru May). Families may choose from several fee options based on their own child care needs. A nutritious afternoon snack is provided.

Summer Camp

Age: 3 – 8
Days: Mon – Fri
Time: 9 AM – 2 PM
Calendar: June – early August

We offer a summer program from 9:00 – 2:00pm for 8 weeks in the summer beginning in June. This program is open to all children in the community and registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis.

The summer program has theme weeks with a mix of art, nature, science, some Montessori classroom instruction and lots of outdoor activities. Registration is done by the week.
